Silverplate Mountain

A visual study on emerging photographic tools and the modern-day wanderer
Silverplate Mountain is a visual reflection on the evolving tools of photography in the age of technology—an exploration of image-making through the lens of the modern pilgrim.

Inspired by the age-old impulse to wander—to seek places untouched, to collect stories, songs, lullabies, poems, languages, and the quiet patterns of distant cultures—this work reimagines the artist as a contemporary troubadour. One who carves a path not found on any map. A pilgrimage not to a known destination, but through experience itself.

The instrument for this journey is the "silverplate"—a nod both to the materiality of silver in early photographic processes, and to the poetic act of engraving memory onto surface. Silver, once a currency for travelers, becomes here a symbolic vessel for preserving ephemeral findings—the gems of the journey.

In this visual study, the silverplate is not just a tool but a metaphor: for memory, for mapping, for touch. It records not only what is seen, but what is sensed.
