Multiple Exposure series explores time, memory, and spatial layering through in-camera multiple exposures. Fragmented urban images collapse together: scaffolding, rocks, buildings, facades. Architecture dissolves into momentary compositions.

Multiple Exposure is a film photography series exploring the layered interplay of time, memory, and urban perception through in-camera multiple exposures. Shot between 2012 and 2017 in Bodrum, Berlin, İstanbul, Belgrade, Minsk on expired 35mm and medium format film, the project captures the convergence of fleeting moments, structures, shadows, and surfaces.

 

Architectural remnants, industrial contours, sea-worn stones, and passing silhouettes dissolve into one another—each frame capturing their quiet collisions in layers of fleeting convergence. What was just present remains as residue; what’s still there begins to fade.

The use of analog film and the unpredictability of expired stock create tonal distortions and atmospheric color shifts, reinforcing the temporal dislocation embedded in the process. These photographs do not record a place or a time. They trace a passage—across exposure, across time.

Influenced by Kevin Lynch’s idea that cities are experienced through fragments—paths, edges, nodes— Multiple Exposure treats visual space as layered, partial, and unstable. It invites viewers to read the city not as a coherent image, but as a palimpsest of impressions, overlapping rhythms, and spatial memory. 

 

Rooted in architectural thinking and poetic abstraction, the series reflects an ongoing interest in how perception shapes place—and how photography can hold what has just passed, alongside what continues to persist.
